| Hey everyone, I am picking up my 1991 TTZ 5speed,77K, all stock except for stillen intercoolers, and a greddy cat-back exhaust. I will be going to get her in exactly 17 days from the mechanic that has been putting this project car back together for me over the last 2 months. she will have the 120K maintenace kit done and installed when I get there. I had previously posted pics of how she looks "As Is". I don't have updated pictures, but I will once I go and get her. I am in Houston, and the car is in Austin, Texas; about 3hrs of drive time. I have read through some Tech articles, and I found some good points to check out... However I wanna get additional direct feed back from all you other Z'ers out here :-P This is my first Twin Turbo Z, So feel, sounds, and handling are all gonna be new to me. I had a 1990 2+2 about 3 years ago, and thats not even in the same league as this car I'm sure. I am no full blown mechanic, but I can help myself with key things when needed.. From the articles I've seen, some of the basic things that I CAN check upon arrival, before I drive off without the the aid of a lift, a full tool box, and extended periods of time are the folllowing Diagnostics for.. -The HICAS System -Auxilary FAN operation -ECU - And the Auto Climate Control. Some of the more minor things that were easy on the spot things to check are: -Take it through a carwash and check for leaks -Oil level -Oil Condition -Coolant level -Coolant condition -Dipstick oil color -Signs of oil leaks -Fuel smell ( a smell when the engine is cold is usually caused by hoses that have become brittle/dry from what I have read) INTERIOR WISE: -Air conditioning -Heater -Fan speeds -Stereo (silly I know) -Wipers -Lights -Alarm (if applicable) -Seats, (Adjustment, rails, power option, etc) -Guages DRIVE TEST WISE: -Idle when COLD is:1200-1500, once WARM is: 700-800 -Oil pressure when WARM is: 25-30, and 55-60 @3000 rpm. -Boost at Idle is: -14, and +9.5 at full acceleration, and if it doesn't go past +7, it is in SAFETY BOOST?? <<(is that true??) -Look for white smoke at start up, during test drive in rear view, and after test drive while the car is hot and still at idle. (If u see blue smoke, indicates that Turbo seals may be going). **These are primarily from what I have read and gathered through my own inquires, and gathered knowledge..
Is there anythng else I can add as a quick check, before I drive off with this car?
